Irrigation is not something that I have messed with much in the garden, I do believe that it is something I need to develop. I have irrigation experience with nursery greenhouses and in lawns from my landscaping days.

Like everything else there are many different ways to irrigate, in my greenhouse I use one of those rectangular lawn sprinklers that moves back and forth. I hate it, at first I tried putting it in the middle and had it spray from one end to the other but I always had to hand water areas around the edges.

I changed from watering all at once length wise to turning the sprinkler sideways and moving it three times so the sprinkler watered from side to side short ways instead of long ways and that worked better but it involves moving it several times 6 minutes apart which is just short of being annoying.

The four main systems I am going to talk about over the  next few posts are soaker hoses, overhead sprinklers, drip, and flood irrigation.
