Planting in Trays

As previously stated I’m behind on everything! I did want to get some crops going though. Fighting weeds is always a problem and especially with corn for me it seems the earlier the better. What I mean by earlier is better is that if my corn plants aren’t in the ground as soon as possible I don’t get any corn either because of drought or bugs or both, normally both. Early planting has its own risks too, freezing and/or rotting is a problem. Often in early spring the soil isn’t warm enough for the seed to germinate and often there is so much rain the seeds rot in the soil. I am hoping the hoop house will fix the problems, with it the soil can be heated and moisture controlled.

I put a piece of plastic down to keep from wasting so much potting soil and for easier clean up.

I didn’t have anything to write on so a picture was taken the farthest are green beans, then tomatoes, carrots, peppers, and corn. Much more needs to be done but it’s a start.

A wand is very helpful for watering in the planted cells.

Just a stay at home Dad trying to become more self sufficient in a world getting more dependent. It’s easy to get lost in all the things of the world, sometimes the best therapy is getting your hands dirty and growing something good!
