Considering Chicken Coups

Building your chicken coup needs a lot of consideration. One of my problems is that the chickens destroy everything.

It’s not just that I have to protect my trees and deal with erosion, the chickens don’t have the good grass they used to have. They have access to woods that holds up pretty well with the leaves on the ground. I built mine the way I did for security and electricity.

Having electricity allows heating for chicks and water, it also makes it easier to work early mornings or late evenings. Having a fixed building makes securing it easier as well.

I do hope to have a portable coup someday but before that I will need a good fence to keep dogs out.
